It was the dream of our Superiors to have a house in this central part of the Philippines, since the majority of our Sisters were coming from the Visayas and Mindanao. In God's own time, after many attempts and a long period of waiting, the plan to start a community in this place was realised. The house particularly serves as a Vocation Centre to facilitate the coming of young women who are discerning their vocation and wanting to experience this way of life.
The first rented house was in Abuno, Minglanilla. We started to get acquainted with the place and the culture of the people. After three months we transferred to another rented house in the town proper of Minglanilla. Finally, on 28 April 1998, we purchased a house and settled at Kingswood Village, Lipata, Minglanilla.
Other than the Vocation Apostolate, we are also open to the needs of the local Church especially in the parish. In fact, from the beginning up to the present time, some Sisters are engaged in teaching catechism in a public school located in the area, and giving of communion to the elderly and the sick.
We, in collaboration with the Rogationists, are following up a group of young people who are members of the Union of Prayer for Vocations (UPV), which existed before our arrival. This youth group is made aware of their vital role in praying for more holy vocations in the Church, while helping them discern their own vocation.
The Sisters assigned to this Community are full-time vocation ministers. We are able to reach a number of provinces covered by the Vocation Centre for vocation apostolate to different dioceses, parishes, and schools. We also use the means of electronic communication to facilitate the ministry. It is hoped that with our presence and witnessing the Compassion of the Heart of Jesus, many young people may discover their vocations and respond to God with courage and generosity.
